September 1st is a particularly painful date in the history of our country. 72 years ago, Nazi Germany invaded Poland, thus starting World War II.
On the anniversary of the outbreak of World War II, the authorities of the city and county, veteran organizations, and school youth laid flowers at the Monument to the Fallen for the Land of Myszków.
In commemoration of this historical event and the heroic attitude of those who fought for an independent Poland, flowers were laid at the monument by: Mayor of Myszków Włodzimierz Żak with deputy Iwona Franelak and Chairwoman of the City Council Halina Skorek-Kawka, Starosta Myszkowski Wojciech Picheta, Vice Starosta Jan Kieras, Chairman of the County Council Marian Szczerbak, veterans of the City Union of Combatants and Former Political Prisoners, People’s Army Union, World Union of Home Army Soldiers, and Jurajski Union of Home Army Soldiers, as well as students from Public Schools No. 3 and No. 5 in Myszków.
Beautiful and moving memories, showing the youth-soldiers of Myszków during the first days of September of the memorable year 1939, were presented by Mr. Edward Homik, a member of the City Union of Combatants and Former Political Prisoners in Myszków.
The ceremony was accompanied by the band “Eskadra”, which performed patriotic and military songs, including the song “Czerwone Maki na Monte Cassino” and “Piechota”.
