The District Office in Opoczno invited local residents to the Opoczno celebrations commemorating the 42nd anniversary of the introduction of martial law in Poland. The main event was the Holy Mass held in the local collegiate church. Afterwards, the participants gathered at the Solidarity monument. “We are here to pay tribute to those who died during martial law, those who were interned, but also to remember those acts of solidarity, because martial law was a crackdown on Solidarity,” emphasized Adam Grabowski, the director of the Regional Museum in Opoczno.

As every year, local government officials participated in the celebrations, led by the Mayor Marcin Baranowski and Deputy Mayor Tomasz Łuczkowski. Member of Parliament Robert Telus and representatives of local schools, institutions, services, and residents were also present.
