Architectural competition “Your Home – Dialogue with Tradition”

The National Heritage Institute announces the architectural competition “Your Home – a Dialogue with Tradition.” The Executive Organizer is the Association of Polish Architects – Branch in Katowice. The Polish Thought Institute named after Wojciech Korfanty in Katowice and the Silesian Voivodeship Heritage Conservator have been invited to cooperate. The Silesian Union of Municipalities and Counties serves as the local government partner for this initiative.

The competition includes two categories – for professionals and for students. The competition is open and nationwide, with a prize pool of 70,000 PLN, and projects can be submitted until September 21, 2021. The organizers of the “Your Home – a Dialogue with Tradition” competition invite participants to engage in a creative discussion about the architectural heritage of rural areas in the Silesian Voivodeship – one of the most historically and culturally diverse regions in Poland.

The competition task is to develop an architectural and construction project for a detached single-family house. The project should be a ready-made design intended for multiple use and should fit into the traditional, rural cultural landscape of the Silesian Voivodeship. The aim of the competition is to find new models of single-family housing that continue the best traditions of rural and suburban construction. The jury will award additional points to projects that align with the philosophy of the European Green Deal (including rational energy management).

Individuals, legal entities, design teams, professional architects, and architecture students can participate in the “Your Home – a Dialogue with Tradition” competition. In the case of design teams, at least one person should have design qualifications.

The deadline for submitting competition entries is September 21, 2021. The competition results will be announced on October 13, 2021.
