The construction of traffic lights at the pedestrian crossing located on Kościuszki Street near Primary School No. 3 has been the subject of concern and efforts by the Mayor of Myszków for some time. In 2008, in many conversations with parents of children attending the mentioned school, this issue was raised and there was never any doubt about the need to carry out this task. The Mayor of Myszków quickly responded to the social demand and appeals of parents. After consultations with representatives of the parents’ council and the school principal, he began efforts to build the mentioned traffic lights on the voivodeship road.
Meetings and discussions with representatives of the Voivodeship Road Management in Katowice, extensive correspondence between Mayor Romaniuk and the mentioned Road Management, as well as with Mr. Piotr Spyrka from the Silesian Voivodeship Board, resulted in the commissioning by the Voivode of Silesia in 2009 to prepare a traffic organization project using traffic lights at the pedestrian crossing. The Mayor, understanding perfectly the need for this investment, considering the almost constant threat to the lives and health of pedestrians crossing this location, especially children going to school, asked the Voivode to include the task in the budget and to carry it out promptly in 2010, as a task of great importance from the perspective of the local community.
As a result of all the efforts of the City, the long-awaited traffic lights in the school area are being implemented, awaited by parents and students alike. This is an undeniable success of the city residents, the mayor, the school principal, parents, and students, who will now be able to cross the very busy and dangerous road in a safe manner. The success is even more significant as it was achieved after several years of effort and against some opinions questioning the need for traffic lights at this particular location. It is confirmed once again that success has many fathers and everyone wants to be its author, as recently reported in the local press. However, the most important thing is that our city will be safer on this road, because Safe Myszków is the goal of all of us.
