As every year, the celebrations of May 3rd were started with a Holy Mass for the Homeland at the church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Mijaczów, celebrated by Father Jan Batorski. In addition to the numerous residents of the city, representatives of social organizations, associations, and political parties, flag bearers of the city and county council, schools in Myszków, fire brigades, police, scouts, and veterans were present. Also in attendance were: Member of the European Parliament Jadwiga Wiśniewska, councilor of the Regional Assembly Krystyna Jasińska, deputy governor Anna Socha-Korendo, and secretary Ryszard Chachulski, chairman of the County Council Andrzej Jastrzębski and county councilors, chairman of the City Council Jerzy Woszczyk with councilors, and the host of the ceremony Mayor of Myszków Włodzimierz Żak, deputy mayor Iwona Franelak, treasurer Teresa Bielak, and secretary Sławomir Matyja.
– The Constitution Day of May 3rd emphasizes: reason, dialogue, courage, love for the Homeland and its citizens, and modernity evaluated as the highest achievement for democracy and freedom. But democracy and freedom understood and applied with respect for the interests of the public – said Mayor Żak under the Monument to the Fallen for the Land of Myszkowska. After laying bouquets of flowers, the Eskadra ensemble performed. The ceremony was accompanied by the volunteer fire brigade band from Mrzygłód.
