The confusion with the parking zone is undoubtedly the fault of those responsible and that is one thing. However, distorting reality to show heavily exaggerated “observations” of how ineffective municipal services are, has nothing to do with journalistic ethics. Is this understanding of some issues in the article by editor Robert Bańczyński just my virtual reality? Unfortunately, no.
Example one:
The photo on the front page of Gazeta Myszkowska from January 16th shows two informational boards. The first one covered with a bag indicates that it is inactive, which means it is not in force. The uncovered board provides operating hours from 8 to 17 according to the City Council resolution from January 1, 2009. Where is the unreliability here? Well, let me remind you of the date. If GM was published on January 2nd, it had to go to print no later than December 31st. The editor has no proof that on January 2nd an incorrect informational board was in force. Municipal services noticed the contractor’s mistake and all boards were corrected, with new operating hours applied before January 1st, and that is a fact.
Example two:
I agree with editor Bańczyński regarding the issue of errors on parking cards and their absence in “Ruch” kiosks until January 15th. I do not want to judge the Editor for imagination regarding anonymous statements in the article “Chaos in the parking zone”, because the fact is that on the morning of January 16th, parking cards were available in the kiosks as evidenced next to it.
Editor! One should not write without basis, as it could backfire, as in this case.
Sincerely,
Press Spokesperson of the City Council
Małgorzata Kitala-Miroszewska
