This is what happened today in our city. In the morning of April 10, the City Guard received an anonymous tip that the stream on Zielona Street had turned red. The immediate intervention of the city guards – Mariusz Leksa and Jarosław Płaczkowski – prevented a larger ecological disaster.
A local inspection of properties on Kościuszki and Zielona Streets revealed that one of the residents of Kościuszki Street had poured wood preservative into the stream. The color of the water can be seen in the photos. Additionally, the City Guards found another 11 bags prepared for “liquefaction” and septic tank overflow into the soil. As a result of the septic tank issue, the Guards fined the resident 300 PLN.
The Guards informed the relevant services, and the Police, Fire Department, Environmental Protection Office of the City and County, and the Provincial Inspectorate of Environmental Protection arrived on the scene to take samples of the contaminated water. Both the Police and the Provincial Inspectorate of Environmental Protection will take action against the careless resident. We will inform you about the results of the water tests and the sanctions against the resident.
