Cycling in Podlasie

On Sunday, April 17, 2011, at the field of the PODLAS Association in Myszków, the XXXIII Family Birthday Gathering of the PTTK Club “M-2” took place as part of the Family Tourism Year of the PTTK. Five hundred people participated, one in four of whom took part in the practical part of the bicycle license exam, conducted by the police officers of the Myszków traffic department. The test of cycling skills for each group of exam takers was preceded by a discussion about the rules of safe travel on public roads, led by the police officers: Sebastian Kozioł, Mariusz Gocyła, and Robert Skorek.

Participants of the gathering received commemorative badges, red bicycle lights, and a commemorative stamp. The “Podlas” Association prepared sound system and sweets, the “Capri” pizzeria donated pea soup for the tourists, and “Sokpol” gave away sweet drinks. Cyclists from Bytom, Poraj, Poręba, Przyrowo, Radomsko, Strzyżowice, Zawiercie, and of course Myszków came to the gathering. For cyclists with a bicycle license, Mr. Ryszard Konopka led a ride around the surroundings of Osińska Góra. There were 3 skill competitions with prizes funded by the Mayor of Myszków.

Here are the winners of the skill competitions:
– the hat throw was won by Rafał Nowak (School Complex No. 1, E. Kwiatkowski in Myszków), 2nd place Krzysztof Koścień, 3rd place Tomasz Jadowski “Podlas” Myszków, 4th place Grzegorz Witek club “M-2”;
– the dart throws were won by Łukasz Kortas club “M-2”, 2nd place Kazimierz Hąc PTTK Poręba, 3rd place Grzegorz Karoń (ZSP No. 3), 4th place Katarzyna Janocha club “M-2”;
– the suitcase jump was won by Tomasz Jadowski “Podlas”, 2nd place Piotr Witek club “M-2”, 3rd place Mateusz Kokoszka (High School in Myszków), 4th place Michał Jagieło club “M-2”.

The Photographer Tourist Badge in bronze was awarded to the gathering photojournalist Robert Kotarski. Several dozen families participated in the event, observing their children’s competitions on the bicycle exam track in the training center of Mr. Sokół, to whom we thank for making the place available. The commander of the gathering was Mr. Marian Kotarski, and the finish line manager was Grzegorz Pala (“Podlas”).
