Difficult weather situation in Myszków county.

Dear Residents!

The difficult weather situation in our region, with snowfall and freezing rain, has caused catastrophic damage, with some areas experiencing destruction of the power grid. As a result, a significant number of residents have been left without access to electricity, heating, and water. Taking into account the situation in Myszków County, the county head, all mayors and village heads of our county submitted a request and appeal to the voivode of the Silesian Voivodeship on January 15, 2010, to recognize our county as an area affected by a natural disaster. The crisis situation is serious and dynamic. Despite the continuous efforts of a large number of people, Enion employees, external power companies, as well as firefighters, foresters, municipal services, and private individuals, new outages on icy power lines continue to occur. High, medium and low voltage power lines have been destroyed or damaged. Therefore, we have deemed the situation in need of state assistance. Despite the request, the Silesian Voivode did not declare a state of natural disaster in Myszków County.

In comparison to the rest of the county, the city of Myszków has suffered relatively minor damage. At present, all water supply points are secured and operational. High-capacity power generators will be started if necessary. The lack of electricity is only significantly felt in the peripheral parts of the city – in the Bory district. This situation is caused by the complete destruction of an overhead power line located outside the city limits. Municipal services are constantly monitoring public facilities. Snow is being cleared from roofs as well as icicles. An annual tree inspection was carried out in communication corridors to identify potential threats posed by trees to road and technical infrastructure. Necessary pruning and technical crown cutting have been done. Thanks to these measures, there have been practically no instances of damage to the power installations by tree branches laden with ice in Myszków itself. All services are working at full capacity within the county. The situation should be restored to normal within the next few days.
