During 15.03 – 19.03.2015, a group of twenty students from classes V and VI of ZSP Nr 5, along with their teachers, as part of the Comenius project, participated in a Polish-Slovenian exchange. Upon arrival and greeting their Slovenian friends, the students began their stay in their homes. The students and teachers of the school in Nakło welcomed the Polish guests with a solemn assembly, during which a choir, soloists, and a folk dance group performed. Polish and Slovenian children participated in lessons together, deepening their knowledge about each other’s countries. They also took part in practical activities such as handicrafts, arts, and even cooking together. They competed in sports competitions in football and volleyball. During school activities, teachers and chaperones visited one of the most modern Slovenian kindergartens, as well as a secondary school in the town of Strahinj. They learned about the conditions and methods of work in these institutions.
Our students also had the opportunity to explore the beauty of Slovenia during sightseeing trips, a country of highlands and mountains. While visiting the towns of Kranj, Bled (near Lake Bled, at the foot of the Julian Alps), Ljubljana – the capital, they walked through beautiful streets, admiring the sights. During the visit to Postojna Cave, they admired the charming rock formations – stalactites and stalagmites. They also had the chance to see the unusual eyeless amphibian living only there – the cave salamander. During their stay in the town of Piran, reminiscent of the Italian Venice with its architecture, enjoying the view of the Adriatic Sea, they dreamed of vacations.
As a farewell, the hosts prepared two surprises: a beautiful concert by the choir and soloists, which took place within the school walls (everyone was deeply impressed), and a visit to the winter sports center in the mountain valley of Planica – here, Polish and Slovenian students watched ski jump training on the mammoth ski jump Letalnica. They cheered on the jumpers in their beautiful, jointly prepared hats. They also met with Slovenian jumper Jurij Tepeš, as well as Polish athletes: Piotr Żyła, Kamil Stoch, and their coach Łukasz Kruczek. The joint cheering marked the end of their stay in beautiful, hospitable Slovenia. After an emotional farewell, the students set off on their journey home, believing that the friendships they made will endure.
