Great success of the “troika” students.

On March 31, 2016, in the Hall of the Rectorate of the University of Silesia in Katowice, during a solemn ceremony, 176 students from primary schools in the Silesian Voivodeship received certificates from the Silesian Education Curator Urszula Bauer for winning the title of Voivodeship Subject Competition Laureate and book prizes.
Among the Laureates were two students from the Primary School with Integrative Departments No. 3 named after Tadeusz Kościuszko in Myszków: Paulina Dąbek – the Laureate of the Voivodeship Subject Competition in Mathematics (supervisor Krystyna Gocyła) and Michał Pyrgiel – the Laureate of the Voivodeship Subject Competition in Polish Language (supervisor Renata Cholewka).
During the solemn ceremony, the Silesian Education Curator also congratulated the school directors and expressed gratitude to the teachers who prepared the children for the subject competitions. – A good teacher is not the one who has the most knowledge, but the one who can inspire students to continuous exploration, fascinate them with the subject, field, or problem – emphasized Urszula Bauer during the ceremony. Letters of congratulations on behalf of the Rector of the University of Silesia were handed to this year’s laureates by Prof. Dr. hab. Mariusz Rzętała.
In the school year 2015/2016, the Voivodeship Subject Competitions organized by the Silesian Education Curator for primary school students in the Silesian Voivodeship were conducted in 995 primary schools (89% of primary schools in the voivodeship). In the school stage, 7,374 students decided to test their knowledge in the Polish language competition, and 9,340 students in the math competition. 757 students qualified for the regional stage, and nearly half of them advanced to the voivodeship stage. 176 students earned the title of laureate.
This year’s gala of laureates was enhanced by young musicians, students of the State Secondary Music School named after Karol Szymanowski in Katowice, and a lecture for the participants of the ceremony was delivered by Prof. Mariusz Rzętała, who presented interesting facts about the underwater world in an extremely engaging manner.
– I am very proud of our students. I know how much time they dedicated to preparing for the next stages of the competitions, without neglecting their school education. I congratulate them from the bottom of my heart once again. I also thank the teachers who, with great commitment, prepared their students for the competitions for several months. The title of Laureate is their common success – says the school director Bożena Raczek.
