On November 11th, we celebrate the most important national holiday in our country, which is National Independence Day. Independence Day celebrations were also held in our city.
The celebrations of the 91st anniversary of Poland regaining independence began with a Holy Mass for the Homeland, celebrated by Rev. Canon Stefan Jachimczak at the parish church of St. Stanislaus Bishop and Martyr. The ceremony was attended by representatives of the city and county authorities, invited guests, veterans, municipal and county uniformed services, youth, and residents of the city.
After the Holy Mass, in the rain and biting cold, the participants of the ceremony marched to the monument to the Fallen for the Land of Myszkow. Floral wreaths were laid at the monument by, among others, Member of Parliament Jadwiga Wisniewska, Deputy Marshal of the Silesian Voivodeship Mariusz Kleszczewski, Deputy of the Silesian Voivodeship Assembly Andrzej Hutnik, starost of Myszkow Lukasz Stachera, Mayor of Myszkow Janusz Romaniuk, city and county councilors, representatives of veterans’ organizations, uniformed services, students from secondary schools, middle schools, and primary schools.
The ceremony celebrating Independence Day was concluded by the XIV Provincial Patriotic Songs Festival – Myszkow 2009, which took place at the City Culture Center. After moving patriotic songs performed by the winners, awards were presented, which the winners received from MP Jadwiga Wisniewska, Mayor Janusz Romaniuk, and MDK Director Jaroslaw Jaskolski.
