The beginning of Tuesday’s City Council session was preceded by the presentation of awards to the winners of the historical competition on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of regaining independence.
The competition under the slogan “Józef Piłsudski – The Road to Independence” was organized for junior high school students by Dr. Jarosław Durka, a history and civic education teacher at Public School No. 1; the competition was coordinated by the Department of Education, Culture and Sports. The prizes were funded by councilors: Andrzej Błaszak (mp3 and mp4 players) and Zofia Chwalba (book prizes).
The winners of the competition were:
1st place – Agata Rogoń from junior high school No. 4 (supervisor: Irena Nawrocka)
2nd place – Bartłomiej Lenartowicz from junior high school No. 5 (supervisor: Zbigniew Poloczek)
3rd place – Monika Andrychowska from junior high school No. 5 (supervisor: Zbigniew Poloczek)
The award for the best student in first grade was received by Justyna Garncarek from junior high school No. 2, under the care of Mrs. Dorota Machura.
“We warmly thank the participants of the competition, their teachers, and the sponsors of the awards. Remembering the sacrifice of several generations of Poles who fought for a free Poland through armed struggle and daily organic work is our duty,” said the Mayor.
