The Mayor of the City of Myszków, Włodzimierz Żak, at the request of the Youth City Council, invites primary and secondary school students who are residents of Myszków to participate in a knowledge contest on local government and the European Union. The contest will take place on June 14, 2019 at 10:00 am at the City Hall. The event is held under the patronage of the Member of the European Parliament, Prof. Jerzy Buzek, and the Youth City Council.
Below are the topics and proposed issues for the upcoming test.
Topics for the Contest on local government and the European Union include: – legal acts and state bodies creating local government units – legal acts regulating the functioning of local governments – tasks of local government units – bodies of local government units – supervision bodies of local government units – competences of the city council, county council, voivodeship sejmik – competences of the mayor/president, county board, voivodeship board – direct and proportional election system – local government in Myszków in the years 1990-2016 – genesis of the European Union – EU institutions and bodies – competences of EU bodies
Applications for the contest are accepted until June 3rd in the Promotion, Culture and Sports Department of the City Hall, room 105, or by phone at 34/313-26-82 ext. 146, 168. The contest will have a mixed form: multiple-choice test and descriptive questions. The winner will be the person with the highest number of correct answers. In case of a tie, the Commission will select the winner by asking oral questions.
Prizes for the contest include: trips to the European Parliament, annual cinema passes at the City Cultural Center, passes to the pool, and other attractions at the City Sports and Recreation Center.
Update: Responding to requests from the Youth City Council, the “Knowledge Contest on Local Government and the European Union” is now open to primary and secondary school students who are residents of Myszków as well as those from outside Myszków who attend primary and secondary schools in Myszków.
