In the first quarter of 2024, the PKP LHS company carried out freight transport amounting to 2.9 million tons. This is the best transport result for the first quarter in the company’s history. Compared to the first three months of 2023, this year LHS trains transported 152,354 tons more. – A significant increase in transport was noted in the export of goods through the Hrubieszów/Izov border crossing – an increase of over 141%. The dynamic development of intermodal transport continues – compared to the first quarter of 2023, there was an increase in import volumes by 97% and in export by 77.5%. This is the result of the company’s actions aimed at developing services related to container transport, especially in terms of handling and freight forwarding for new intermodal projects – informs Agnieszka Hałasa, director of communication and promotion department at PKP LHS. The PKP LHS company continues its investment activities. Investments related to the construction of a cargo area at the Szczebrzeszyn LHS station, expansion and development of the Hrubieszów LHS station – stage II, and construction of the LCS at the Sędziszów LHS station are currently being carried out. The investment expenditure for these tasks in the first quarter of 2024 amounted to nearly 30 million PLN. In early April, the construction of four additional silos for bulk materials at the LHS Transshipment Terminal in Szczebrzeszyn was completed, and in May, the reconstruction of the track layout at the Zamość Bortatycze LHS station will be finished.
