Municipal celebrations of Firefighter’s Day

New Village of Ełk is preparing for the municipal celebration of Firefighters’ Day, which will take place on May 11th this year. This is a time when the community of the Ełk municipality will gather to thank those who dedicate their lives to the safety of others. The event is organized by Mayor Tomasz Osewski and the Volunteer Fire Department. The festivities will begin on Saturday, May 11 at 9:45 am, when invited guests, firefighters, and color guards will gather at the square by the church of St. Joseph the Worker. At 9:50 am, there will be a ceremonial entrance of the color guards into the church, followed by a holy mass at 10:00 am, a moment for reflection and prayer. Around 11:00 am, the color guards, firefighters, and invited guests will march to the municipal sports field. There, standard operating procedures will be carried out, including reporting to the commanding officer, inspection of units, and raising the national flag. After speeches, awards and decorations for service to the community will be presented. This is an important gesture that shows the community’s gratitude for the sacrifices of the firefighters. After the official conclusion of the ceremony, everyone will have the opportunity to enjoy refreshments and view the firefighting equipment. “This event could not have taken place without the support of supporting institutions, such as the Rural Women’s Circle ‘Nowowianki’ from New Village of Ełk, the Ełk Forestry Department, and the Ełk Community Culture Center,” informs Tomasz Osewski, Mayor of the Ełk municipality. “Their involvement demonstrates the strength of community and solidarity in our municipality. We invite all residents to participate and show support for those who dedicate their lives to helping others.”
