Myszków bypass now open!

Today, on November 21st, the bypass of Myszkow was opened to traffic. The acceptance process of the investment has been completed, and the Silesian Voivodeship Building Supervision Inspectorate has issued a decision granting permission for the use of the new road. With the opening of the bypass, the section of the DW 791 it replaces will automatically become a county road by law.

It is worth noting that the construction of the south-western bypass of Myszkow, which is 8.4 km long, is the first stage of the modernization of road No. 791. The road connects national roads No. 1, 78, as well as road No. 7, and is one of the most important communication arteries in the north-eastern part of the Silesian Voivodeship.

The construction of the Myszkow bypass began in the spring of 2016. The new road starts at a roundabout in Mrzyglod, on Zawiercie Street. The next roundabout was built at the intersection with road 793 (Siewierz-Święta Anna), and the last one, closing the bypass from the north, was built on Wolności Avenue, where the compact development of the city ends, just before the intersection with Myszkowska Street. As part of the bypass construction, canalized intersections were also built with Szpitalna Street and Wyzwolenia Street, an intersection near the nearby investment areas, and 5 viaducts over existing roads.

The Myszkow bypass along its entire length has the standard of a main road (class G). It has one carriageway with two lanes, each 3.5 meters wide. The bypass is accompanied by appropriate technical infrastructure and devices improving road users’ safety. As part of the investment, the following were created:
– sidewalks, bike paths,
– pedestrian and bike paths,
– service roads, two vehicle inspection points,
– drainage system elements,
– road culverts.

The bypass not only relieves the center of Myszkow from heavy transit traffic but also allows for connection to the road network being developed on the outskirts of the economic activity zone.

The undertaking is co-financed by the European Union from the European Regional Development Fund under the Regional Program of the Silesian Voivodeship for the years 2014-2020 and the budget of the Silesian Voivodeship self-government. The total cost of the bypass is over 99 million PLN.
