This year’s celebrations of the Constitution Day took place in a sunny and joyful atmosphere. The holy mass at the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Mijaczów was celebrated by the parish priest Fr. Prelate Jan Batorski. The sermon was delivered by Fr. Prelate Dr. Stanisław Gębka.
After the church ceremonies, flag bearers and delegations paid tribute to our ancestors at the Katyn Memorial. To the marching melodies played by the fire brigade orchestra from Mrzygłód, the participants of the ceremony marched to the Monument of the Fallen from the Myszków Land.
This year’s holiday gathered many residents of the city, students and teachers, representatives of institutions, associations, social and political organizations. The invitation of the host of the ceremony, the Mayor of Myszków, Włodzimierz Żak, was accepted by: the deputy governor of the Silesian Voivodeship, Mariusz Trepka, the Silesian Educational Curator, Urszula Bauer, the District Starost of Myszków, Dariusz Lasecki, the councilor of the Silesian Voivodeship Regional Assembly, Krystyna Jasińska, the Chairman of the City Council, Jerzy Woszczyk, along with the councilors of the City Council, the Chairman of the District Council, Andrzej Jastrzębski, and the councilors of the District Council, the Police Commander, Chief Inspector Lech Bugaj, the Deputy Commander of the Fire Department, Brigadier Sebastian Jurczyk. The Member of the European Parliament, Jadwiga Wiśniewska, was represented by Agnieszka Sowińska.
Guests, speaking in their speeches, emphasized the common good that is the Fatherland. The Mayor of the City reminded the gathered people of the preamble text from 225 years ago. The ceremonies ended with a performance by the choir operating at the City Cultural Center, led by Agnieszka Podlasek.
In the afternoon, a family fair took place at the “Jura Touch”. Performances by our bands and a series of sports competitions gathered many residents of our city. The weather was great and everyone could celebrate to their heart’s content.
