Monday’s Holiday of November 11 was different than previous ones. The atmosphere of the celebrations from the very beginning was joyful, warm, and family-oriented. Perhaps this mood was introduced by the words of Father Stefan Jachimczak, who spoke about working beyond divisions, about creating with the city in mind. These themes were also present in the speeches of Member of Parliament Artur Bramora, Vice Marshal Mariusz Kleszczewski, and Mayor Włodzimierz Żak.
The city host spoke about achieving goals, and quoting R.W. Emerson “All things have courage at their root. However you set your course, you will always find someone to tell you that you are headed in the wrong direction, there will always be the temptation to think that your critics are right. To chart a course of action and see it through to the end, you need the courage of a soldier. Even in times of peace there are victories, but only brave hearts can taste them,” emphasizing the importance of action itself. Also speaking were Deputy County Governor Mariusz Trepka and Assistant to Member of Parliament Jadwiga Wiśniewska.
The uniqueness of the celebrations also included another beautiful, patriotic event – the participation of parents with their children, waving red and white flags in their hands. This is the most magnificent expression of patriotism from our residents.
This year’s ceremony lasted longer than previous ones, as it was divided into three parts. In the first part, Mayor Żak along with Vice Marshal Kleszczewski and representatives of students and scouts unveiled a plaque with the name of the roundabout “Roundabout of the Flag of the Republic of Poland”. The dedication was performed by Father Jachimczak. Then Mayor Żak invited the participants of the march to two surprises. These were red and white cakes to celebrate the anniversary of independence and a parade of motorcycles from the Myszków Motorcycle Club. In this way, the open and tested roundabout should serve us for a long time and well.
To the joyful, march-like rhythms of the Mrzygłód firefighters’ orchestra, the participants of the ceremony walked to the Monument of the Fallen for the Land of Myszków to honor the memory of the fallen with flowers. After the monument, another important ceremony took place, namely the presentation of a banner for the Association of Veterans and Reservists of the Polish Army branch in Myszków. This solemn moment was accompanied by decorations for deserving veterans and supporters of the Association. Among them was also the Mayor of Myszków, Włodzimierz Żak.
The day ended with a concert by the winners of the 18th Patriot Song Review. Each of the winners left the stage to a storm of applause, but special attention is deserved by the new sound of the Eskadra band. Thanks to the musician-institution Henryk Gmitrow, the band was able to combine and enrich the group with a choir made up of students from the military classes at the School Complex No. 1 named after Eugeniusz Kwiatkowski in Myszków.
Cold, but full of smiles, joy, and inner warmth, November 11th has already entered the history books. The next one, in which adults may participate even more numerous with the charming, youngest representatives of our city, is ahead of us.
