Palms, napkins, and spiders are made in Opoczno starosty.

Workshops have started in the Opoczno district as part of a competition for decorative and ritualistic art. The competition for decorative and ritualistic art has been organized in the Opoczno district for 26 years. As explained by Deputy Starosta Maria Barbara Chomicz, this year’s edition involves 81 folk artists. They create: Easter palms, traditional Opoczno Easter eggs, napkins for Easter baskets, paper cut-outs, and spiders. The main organizer of the competition is the Opoczno District. – We organize this competition primarily to preserve the rich folk tradition of our region – emphasizes Deputy Starosta Maria Barbara Chomicz. The co-organizers of the competition are: the National Center for Agricultural Support in Łódź, the Regional Museum in Opoczno, the Regional Culture Center in Drzewica, and the Bielowice Association of Folk Art Creators and Friends in Bielowice.
