Scouts delivered the Bethlehem Light of Peace.

On Thursday morning, Mayor of Włodzimierz Żak met with scouts from the Myszków Region, who handed him the Bethlehem Light of Peace along with Christmas wishes. “Thanking you for this symbolic fire, I extend warm and joyful Christmas wishes to you, the entire Scout Brotherhood, and your families, as well as a Happy New Year,” said Mayor Żak.

The Bethlehem Light of Peace is a symbol of joy, brotherhood, peace, and community. The idea originated in Austria, where in 1986, the flame was brought from the Bethlehem grotto – the birthplace of Christ – for the benefit of blind children. Two years later, Austrian scouts themselves went to Bethlehem for the Light. Since then, this symbol of peace and unity has been brought to Vienna every year, and scouts from various countries spread the Light throughout Europe.
