The gas explosion occurred today (April 8) after 3:00 PM in an apartment on the ground floor of a block on Sportowa Street in Szczebrzeszyn. “During the ignition of the burner of a 400ml gas tank, there was a gas leak and the cylinder caught fire. When the man ran out onto the balcony with a wet towel to put out the cylinder, there was an explosion. The owner of the apartment was not injured. As a result of the explosion, the balcony doors along with a window were damaged (the door frame was broken and windows shattered). Glass fragments damaged the window of a parked passenger car about 15 meters away from the apartment where the explosion occurred,” the firefighters reported. Five fire brigade units were involved in the operation.
