The history of the city in the Myszkowski notes

This is a new educational project that has reached our schools, libraries, and reading rooms. After the city’s monograph, which can still be purchased at the Municipal House of Culture, this is the second publication on the history of our city. Dr. Kazimierz Miroszewski and Dr. Jarosław Durka came up with the idea of publishing historical notebooks annually under the title “Zeszyty Myszkowskie”, which will also be published under their scientific editorship. The Mayor of the City, Włodzimierz Żak, recognized this as a very good educational proposal for both our school students and adults, and in this way the city became the publisher and partner of the project. As befits a popular-science publisher, it has a Scientific Council composed of historians from the University of Silesia, Jan Długosz Academy, Nicolaus Copernicus University, and Adam Mickiewicz University. In the introduction from the editorial board, we read “…There is a need to expand research on the history of individual localities, as well as on ongoing economic, social, cultural changes, and the development of sports in the Myszkow region. Guided by this conviction, we came up with the initiative to prepare a new publication – “Zeszyty Myszkowskie”, published as a humanities and social science annual (…). This initiative was taken by the Mayor of the City, Włodzimierz Żak, seeing in it educational material for students of Myszkow schools. Thus, the City Office of Myszkow became the publisher and partner of the project.” In this first issue, we can read texts on: the socio-economic situation of peasant families in the Myszkow region in the 18th and 19th centuries, the popular movement in the Myszkow region in the years 1939-49, and artesian wells in Myszkow-Mijaczow in the thirties of the 20th century. In this first historical edition, one can also find many other interesting historical proposals. Wishing you enjoyable reading, we invite you to the city’s reading rooms and libraries.
