The mayor took part in the Zatopka Run in Koprivnice.

Mayor of the City of Myszków Włodzimierz Żak, along with a group of runners from Myszków, took part in the 17th Emil Zatopek Run in Koprivnice, Myszków’s partner city.

As every year, a group of runners from our city responds to the invitation from the authorities of Koprivnice and participates in this special run dedicated to the best Czech runner and Olympian Emil Zatopek.

This year, in addition to the mayor, Myszków was represented by: Ewa Kuzior, Katarzyna Miklas, Piotr Miklas, and Marek Ferdynand.

The Zatopek Run takes place regularly on the nearest Saturday to the runner’s birthday, which is September 19, 1922. Interestingly, on the same day his wife Dana Zatopkova was also born.

The run starts in Koprivnice, Emil Zatopek’s hometown, near the monument dedicated to him, which was ceremonially unveiled on September 21, 2002, on the 80th anniversary of Emil Zatopek’s birth. The start of each race is managed by Mrs. Dana Zatopkova, under the supervision of members of the Czech Olympic Club and the Czech Olympic Committee.

The finish line of the run is in Rožnov pod Radhoštěm, 22.3 km away, at the resting place of this outstanding runner. There is also an award ceremony, attended by members of the Czech Olympic Club along with Dana Zatopkova, representatives of the Czech Olympic Committee, and invited guests.
