The mayor’s explanation regarding assistance for fire victims

In connection with the article entitled “The contribution for the fire victims did not reach”, which appeared in the pages of Gazeta Myszkowska No. 34 dated August 21 this year, it was reported that the collected funds for the fire victims amounted to 750 PLN, and not as incorrectly reported in the amount of about 1,000 PLN (which was notified to the editor-in-chief of GM Mr. Jarosław Mazanek before the Friday edition of the newspaper).

Councilor Andrzej Błaszak filed a request for a collection of money for the victims of the fire, and the money was collected from councilors and directors of organizational units subordinate to the Myszków City Office. The collected funds will be allocated for school supplies for three children (aged 4, 6, 10) and for part of the kindergarten fee. At the meeting with the mother of the victims and the Mayor of Myszków, Janusz Romaniuk, it was agreed that the collected money must be allocated first of all to the aforementioned purpose due to the approaching start of the school and kindergarten year, which the fire-affected mother expressed her agreement with. It is worth noting that children were also involved in the fire and their needs are the most important, as informed by the closest neighbors of the fire victims, who know the family best and themselves proposed to the mayor to allocate money for school supplies and kindergarten fees.

In the fire that took place in March this year, everything was completely burned down. Immediately after the incident, the housing of the fire victims was renovated by MTBS at the request of Mayor of Myszków, Janusz Romaniuk, who immediately went to the scene of the tragedy upon receiving information about the incident. The allocation of the collected amount for school supplies and kindergarten fees was also agreed with the Chairperson of the Myszków City Council, Urszula Motylewska. A different opinion was held by Councilor, Mrs. Halina Skorek-Kawka, who urged the Mayor to renovate the stairwell with the funds collected for the help of the affected family, as the block where the fire took place is in her electoral district, and this could bring her more votes.

In the GM article entitled “The contribution for the fire victims did not reach”, there was a statement that Mayor Janusz Romaniuk said, I quote: “they are a pathological family and we couldn’t give them cash because they would spend it on alcohol”, which is completely untrue, because the mayor never referred to the affected family in this way and certainly did not make the statements quoted above in the pages of Gazeta Myszkowska.
