According to the law, when a national or religious holiday falls on a non-working day, the employer must designate another day off during the week. That is why some offices inform about an “unusual” day off.
National Independence Day falls on Saturday (11th of November). Even without an official holiday, this day would be a day off for many officials.
According to Polish labor law, if a holiday falls on a non-working day, the employer must designate another day in the week for employees to take their entitled day off.
Using this legal provision, the City Office in Wadowice has announced that it will not be accepting petitioners on Monday (13th of November).
The City Office will be closed on the 13th of November (Monday) – in exchange for the holiday falling on the 11th of November (Saturday), an additional day off from work is established. We apologize for any inconvenience! – reads the statement.
Similar announcements appear on the websites of other local governments. For example, in Andrychów, the nearest Friday (10th of November) will be a day off.
