The second edition of Jura MTB Race is behind us.

The hot weather did not prevent the competition in the Kraków-Częstochowa Jura, where mountain biking enthusiasts gathered. This is already the second edition of Jura MTB Race.

Three days of sports excitement
It is well known that the Kraków-Częstochowa Jura attracts both road cycling fans and those who prefer off-road riding. Numerous trails, diverse landscapes, and excellent accommodation facilities are the potential that the organizers of Jura MTB Race have successfully utilized once again. The stages were hosted by Niegowa, Żarki, and Myszków.

“We have completed three stages, played day after day, which on the one hand requires preparation from the participants but on the other hand is an interesting way to spend a long weekend with friends or family”, explain the organizers. “When the competitors were on the route, their loved ones waited in the competition town or enjoyed numerous attractions in the Jura municipalities”.

Each of the three stages started from a different location, which allowed for the preparation of very diverse routes.

“The third day was definitely the toughest. We were already tired, so theoretically we should have been calm, but nothing came of it,” commented the participants at the finish line. “Heat, sand… it’s the essence of this race. Long routes, sun and sun again, and then sand. Excellent!”

The base of the first stage was Niegowa, on the second day the participants met at Leśniowska Frajda in Żarki, and the final stage started from the Dotyk Jury complex in Myszków.

“The stage race is great. Fast routes combined with intervals and sand make it very, very demanding,” says Maciej Pitach, the winner of the overall classification in the PRO distance. Sonia holds a similar opinion, and despite the adventures on the final stage, she already announces her return. “Fantastic, I’m coming back next year!”

Weather played a role
This year, the competitors were accompanied by hot weather, which undoubtedly did not make the competition easier.

“We ordered good weather, of course, but I don’t think anyone expected such heat. It is certainly a major obstacle on the route, where you have to distribute your energy properly and take care of hydration. Many people will remember the competition conditions during this year’s edition of Jura MTB Race,” the organizers add.

This is also confirmed by those who had the opportunity to test the routes in practice. “Practically every day was very difficult, the temperature took a toll. The organizers made the most of what the Jura had to offer,” could be heard at the finish line.

“I really like the Jura, I come here often for holidays, but this is my first time racing in this area and definitely not the last. I won three stages, so I am very pleased,” summarizes Patryk Białej, the winner in the overall classification in the HOBBY distance.

In addition to the main races, the last day was also full of excitement among the youngest. Races for children, called KIDO, took place in the town, where children competed on balance bikes, as well as slightly older children on distances suitable for their age and abilities.
