They started the season with a bang.

On April 24th, the MUKS WOPR Kędzierzyn-Koźle team successfully opened the new competitive season. Our water rescuers won a total of 17 medals during the first competition of the Grand Prix Polski, including 2 gold, 6 silver, and 9 bronze medals. The first competition of this year took place at a pool in Katowice. 200 athletes from 14 clubs from across Poland participated in the event. A strong team of 22 represented the club from Kędzierzyn-Koźle, aiming for the best results. In the very first competition, our representative Diana Emerling set a new Polish record in the 50m mannequin rescue category, improving the previous record by over a second and winning the gold medal in the junior category.

The other 16 medals were won by: Maksymilian Topolnicki (2nd place in the junior 50m towing, 3rd place in the 100m belt, 2nd place in the 100m super rescuer), Joanna Czok (3rd place in the senior 50m towing, 2nd place in the 100m belt), Zuzanna Kordek (3rd place in the junior 50m towing, 1st place in the 100m super rescuer), Aneta Drabik (2nd place in the senior 100m mannequin rescue with fins, 2nd place in the 200m super rescuer), Julia Dolata (3rd place in the junior 100m mannequin rescue with fins), Olga Matyjasek (3rd place in the junior 100m mannequin rescue with fins, 2nd place in the 100m belt), Zofia Rapiejko (3rd place in the senior 100m belt, 3rd place in the 100m super rescuer) relay team (3rd place in the junior 4x50m belt with Jagoda Sado, Lena Lebiecka, Diana Emerling, Olga Matyjasek) and relay team (3rd place in the open 4x50m belt with Zuzanna Kordek, Aneta Drabik, Julia Dolata, Joanna Czok).

In addition to the medalists, the MUKS WOPR Kędzierzyn-Koźle team included: Wiktoria Kochowska, Julia Samsel, Martyna Szostak, Victoria Setnicka, Julia Guziak, Jarema Stańczyk, Roman Wołoszyn, Karol Rekowski, Cyprian Knapiak, Bartek Malinowski, Filip Kruz, and Maciej Malinowski. The coaching duo of Bogdan Stańczyk and Jędrzej Janyk ensured the team was well-prepared. The competition in Katowice was the final test before the summer Polish championships, which will take place at the end of April in Opole.
