From February 28 to March 1, 1863, a victorious battle of the January Uprising took place near Mrzygłód. As a result, Mrzygłód was stripped of its city rights.
To honor the insurgents, on the 150th anniversary of the January Uprising, we invite you to ceremonies that will begin on February 28 at 5:00 p.m. with an evening event at the school in Mrzygłód.
With torches lit, we will proceed to the insurgents’ grave in the forest on Nadrzeczna Street, which will be named after Colonel Teodor Cieszkowski, the commander of the fighting unit. There will also be a reenactment of the battle involving historical reenactment groups. After laying flowers at the insurgents’ grave, we will move to the market square. A commemorative plaque will be installed on the Insurgents’ monument, a roll call for the fallen will take place, and a choir will sing “March Polonia”. The ceremonies will conclude with a solemn Mass for the fallen at the Church of the Virgin Mary in Mrzygłód.
We invite all residents of Myszków to participate in the ceremonies.
