The TomQ band with the song “War” was the winner of the Vena Festival 2010, held on November 5th in Łódź. The band includes Przemysław Smaczny from Myszków, who plays the drums. The main prize of the festival is recording a single in New York, in a studio where artists like Beyonce have recorded, as well as a concert tour in the United States.
The aim of the Vena Festival is to create a competition where everyone has a chance to win. Young bands can compete with professional and well-known performers. An international jury awards points to songs in an online vote without knowing the authors and performers. The winner is the performer whose song receives the most votes from the jury in the second stage (the jury includes Elżbieta Zapendowska, Tomasz Raczek, Dariusz Krupa, and Ewelina De Tush Lec).
During the announcement of the result, the re-invitation to the stage made us realize how important it was – said Tomasz Klimek, guitarist of TomQ. Our choice coincides with the previous online vote – revealed Tomasz Raczek. This was the only band that none of us had any doubts about.
The TomQ band was formed in 2007, with the essence of bringing together people with similar musical sensibilities who can collaborate with each other. After a period of musical and personal search, the current lineup of the band was formed. It consists of people with a passion for whom music is incredibly important – it’s their life. The band is made up of a group of friends, as well as professional musicians: Marcin Jajkiewicz – vocals, Tomasz Klimek – electric guitar, Andrzej Rusek – bass guitar, Adam Rybak – keyboards, and the aforementioned Przemysław Smaczny – drums.
