Today at 4:32 in Myszków-Światowicie, there was a collision of two freight trains. A coal train collided with a fuel tanker, resulting in a fire in the locomotive. Fortunately, there were no fatalities. The injured train conductor was taken to the hospital. Mayor of the City Włodzimierz Żak, employees of the Environmental Protection Department, Investment and Crisis Management Department of the City Office, and the Voivodeship Inspectorate of Environmental Protection arrived at the scene to assess the environmental threat.
The operation involves units from the Volunteer Fire Department of Nowa Wieś, Mrzygłód, Lgota Górna, Koziegłowy, Żarki, as well as the Fire Department from Myszków, Częstochowa, and Zawiercie. Traffic organization and action safety are being ensured by the County Police Headquarters. In total, there are 12 firefighting vehicles on site. At the request of Mayor Żak, City Office employees quickly prepared sandwiches and hot tea for the officers involved in the operation. The city will also provide dinner for all involved, as the operation may last until tomorrow.
