The “White Ribbon” campaign has been inaugurated in the Ełk Municipality. For a week, various activities will be carried out in our beautiful municipality with the sole aim of stopping violence. This year’s campaign slogan is “Activity, not aggression”. “White Ribbon” is the largest worldwide action aimed at stopping violence. It is conducted in over 60 countries, including Poland. As part of the campaign, meetings will be held until December 7 with district police officers from the Ełk County Police Command and representatives of the Interdisciplinary Team. Additionally, on December 5th, in Straduny, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, consultations with a psychologist will be organized. – We want to provide assistance to victims of violence, advise witnesses, but we also want to support perpetrators of violence in stopping behaviors that are sometimes their only known form of attracting attention to themselves – says Tomasz Osewski, Mayor of the Ełk Municipality. The symbol of the campaign is a white ribbon. Wearing it is intended to be a symbol of opposition to violence, which can take various forms. Today, ladies from the Municipal Social Assistance Center in Ełk pinned ribbons to many gentlemen in the Ełk Municipal Office, headed by Mayor Tomasz Osewski and the director of the Center, Adam Ostrowski. – Let its wearing, even if only for a week, be a signal that we are not passive and if there is a need – we will help – says Mayor Tomasz Osewski.
