The Center of Oncology in Bydgoszcz has decided to purchase specialized equipment for the radiation therapy of cancer patients. The MR Accelerator is the first device of its kind in Poland and the fourth in Europe. MR Accelerator - hope for the sick The existing problem in diagnosing and treating cancerous diseases largely stems from the fact that the affected soft tissues do not differ in structure from healthy ones. However, they have different physiological characteristics. Scientists and doctors hope that the use of MR technology will result in much more precise focusing of the radiation to which the changes are subjected. A significant benefit for patients is expected to be a shorter period of radiation therapy.

It is not a secret that the healthcare sector is facing numerous problems, especially of a financial nature. Over the past few years, the prevention segment has been particularly affected. This is evident in the number of healthcare policy programs submitted to the Agency for Health Technology Assessment and Tariffication. While in 2017 there were 401 cases, in 2021 there were only 124. To make matters worse, this number decreased to 86 in 2022. Local governments are struggling with limited resources for preventive healthcare. This situation can have a negative impact on the health and well-being of patients.
